The ivory carvings of Alaskan Native craftsmen are prized around the world. The Alaskan Qiviut wool of the Musk Ox is a treasured fiber used to make the warmest garments in the world. Fur trapping and garment making are thriving industries in Alaska, with many fine products available.

Visitors to Skagway can get a taste of what it was like to live in the famous gold rush days of Alaska . There is a variety of gold rush themed entertainment in Skagway , theater shows, and plenty of characters dressed in gold rush costumes available for photographing.
Commemorating the Gold Rush of 1897-98, this 5,000 hectare park encompasses a six-block historical district in the town of Skagway , the famous Chilkoot and White Pass Trails, and the nearby ghost town of Dyea.

The Alaska Native Heritage Center introduces Alaska Native traditions and customs of both the past and present. The Center provides a unique opportunity to experience Alaska’s many diverse Native cultures at one location. The Welcome House is a celebration of contemporary Alaska Native cultures while the outdoor facilities and sites allow the exploration of ancient tradition and the presentation of stories from the past.

Celebration - An Alaska Native Heritage Festival

Celebration is a biennial festival of the Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian tribes which showcases Alaska native heritage and traditions. The Sealaska Heritage Institute organizes the event every two years in Juneau in early June.

Yukon Quest International Dog Sled Race

The Yukon Quest is a an epic dog sled race across the frozen wilderness of Alaska and the Yukon in the freezing depth of winter. Fifty of the world’s top mushers and their dog teams race across 1,000 miles (1,600 km) in this international dog sled race between Fairbanks, Alaska and Whitehorse in the Yukon terriroty of Canada. The Yukon Quest upholds the frontier spirit of the goldrush days. Mushers carry mandatory equipment, food and supplies at all times. Visitors can view the race in Fairbanks and Chena Hot Springs.
